Auf dem hohen Matterberg existierte einst eine wohlhabende Stadt. Auf seiner Durchreise prophezeit der Ewige Jude das langsame Veröden des Ortes. Beim zweiten Besuch würden anstelle von Gassen Bäume wachsen, und beim dritten Mal würde alles unter ewigem Schnee begraben sein. Heute liegt das gesamte Tal unter Eis.

Staging Der ewige Jud auf dem Matterhorn (DS 343) as a prophecy legend in which a wandering figure announces the slow erasure of a prosperous mountain town across three visits separated by centuries. The production models the tale as a structure of time, witness, and inevitability: the prophesied desolation arrives exactly as spoken, and the glacier is the verdict.
